Patsy Trench

About the author

Patsy Trench is a late starter as an author. She began her working life as an actress in England and in Australia, before switching to scriptwriting and script editing. She co-founded The Children's Musical Theatre of London, creating devised musicals with primary school children. She has also written lyrics for cabaret and musical theatre. Her books comprise three non fiction accounts of early colonial Australia as seen through the eyes of her ancestors; four novels about enterprising and sometimes badly-behaved women breaking the mould in late nineteenth/early twentieth century England, and a collection of short stories about love in adversity. Her later novels are set in the world of Edwardian theatre, a time of the great and often eccentric actor-managers and also a time of enormous change, theatrically and socially. When not writing she teaches theatre to overseas students and organises theatre tours. She is the mother of two and grandmother of one. She lives and works in London. When she's not working she's probably foraging on the Thames foreshore for ancient treasure, crocheting or mucking about with her grandson.
